Stripping paint

Andy has stripped the hallway paint from the skirting boards!! Busy week for him: 

Bedroom curtains and flooring!

Our new curtains are finally up in the bedroom.

Bathroom ideas

We had our second design appointment with the designer from Wickes.

Here is what our design looks like.

BEFORE LEFT - as you walk in, the area to the left of the door (with the extension into bedroom 3 and the fake 'room' type thing):

AFTER  LEFT -What the man proposes this area will look like after. Don't forget that the ceiling will not look like this - take our ceiling and pretend it is there.....:

BEFORE RIGHT - as you walk in through the door this is the current view to the right of the door:

AFTER right- man proposes to build fake wall over door to hide the door and then do a wall-to-wall shower as in diagram below. You can see the fake wall below. Don't forget that the door shown in this schematic is a normal door and that ours is a 'pop' door which slides sideways. Sadly the landing/bathroom does not have the required building regulations space for a normal door so we are stuck with the pop sliding door.

Finally, the bird's eye view is:

A small bathroom, but hopefully with a bit more breathing space. Had to compromise some space between sink and toilet, so might be a bit claustrophobic? 

Has to be better than what we have got at the moment though surely?!

The man has not included the cost of refurbishing the ceiling as we would need to talk to the installer directly and he would quote us on the job.

Guess how much this costs! Answers via email.

Hall painting

We have painted the first coat of  'colour', we went for the Dulux Timeless. It looks really great now!

Kitchen Appliances

And...... with the £30 Curry's compensation for failure to deliver we got a half-price George Foreman grill. Never used one, but let's see:

Sideboard

We also went to Oak Furnitureland Outlet store which sells slightly 'damaged' or ex-showroom furnitures at reduced prices.

We found this Galway sideboard which had  some minor scratches and the doors are slightly crooked compared to each other. We got it at 50% the original price so quite pleased overall.

It fits our files and  things perfectly!

Sofa research

We spent some time in Leekes this weekend where we discovered this Casa Heidi chaise sofa. We thought it felt comfortable and loved the chaise aspect, but at £1299 and a 10 week delivery time thought

Today we went to DFS and saw the Keeper sofa (4 seater) which at £500 ish was not too bad. We measured it up in the lounge and we think the fit is perfect. We can still get a little side table and maybe a coffee table in there as well as some other furniture. Whereas the Casa Heidi might overwhelm the room a little.

Here was the Zinc sofa from DFS (4 seater) which we thought at £799 was ok and thought it looked quite modern and stylish. Comfort was medium comfort.

Finally here was the Lydia sofa (4 seater with chaise) from DFS which we thought was really good. We think maybe it might also be too big for our room.


Thoughts or ideas? We were really keen on a chaise sofa, but not we are more leaning towards a non-chaise sofa as it might overwhelm the room. Then we can have space for coffee table and maybe armchair and little bookcase.
